Purpose
This is the principle by which the display areas of large DIY chains are organised. The right products are always stored in their area, making it possible to maintain the availability of the range on the shelves efficiently. You can handle a single item at the top by loading equipment and the bottom by hand. Because storing only pallets or only boxes in a warehouse is not common, pallet and shelf racking can be an interesting and versatile solution for many companies.

Description
This series of racks are based on the design of classic selective racks, the lower tiers of which have braces and durable shelves made of wood slabs (or galvanized panels). The use of such racks provides maximum flexibility in operation since it provides high loads and simultaneous storage of both pallets and piece products on the rack.
This racking system is convenient because you can place complete pallets on the upper levels, pallets for sub-sorting ‑ on the floor and open boxes for piece goods selection on shelves.
Depending on the required load, you can use a 30 or 38 mm thick chipboard, OSB or MDF. If you need maximum durability and stability when goods are handled carelessly, when heavy objects are almost thrown onto the rack, you can use a 25-50 mm thick hardboard. The latter option is also interesting because it allows you to repair local parts of the shelf and not whole sheets.
Pallet racks with shelves on the lower tiers have all the advantages of both types of racks. They allow you to change tiers in height easily and use them for a wide range of tasks. Because the racking consists of most standard elements, you can easily sell it over time as a pallet rack.
The disadvantage of this storage system is the more frequent overlap between warehouse equipment and storekeepers (if these functions are separated), which has an additional risk of workplace injuries. Besides, a pallet rack shelf with a depth of 1100 mm is not very convenient and it is unlikely to be fully utilised.
At the same time, the use of such racks avoids a need for additional shelf storage areas, which are unlikely to use the full height of the premise, and it avoids numerous movements of goods within the warehouse, from the pallet storage area to the shelf racking.
