Construction features

Archive racks are a solid metal structure consisting of frames, braces and shelf tiers. Depending on the type and purpose, archival racks can be made of solid or perforated metal elements. Also, the storage system can be represented by welded or prefabricated structures. The main advantage of welded models was their stability, but due to the reduced level of their versatility, this type of construction is less popular than the prefabricated version.

Collapsible designs of archival models are very similar to universal storage systems. Racks of archival warehouse racks are made of perforated metal profile of high-strength steel. Assembly of such archival constructions is carried out by means of hooks.

To increase wear resistance and aesthetics, structural elements are covered with powder-polymer enamel. The stability of such archival systems is ensured by fastening to the floor with anchor bolts. In the case of the use of mobile archival racks, the floor must be equipped with tracks to ensure the movement of mobile bases of structures.

To ensure the safety of storage facilities or restrict third party access, archival structures can be additionally equipped with hinged doors, side and rear panels and fences. Archival mobile models from the very beginning involve lining the walls of the rack on all sides.

Types and varieties of models of archival racks for storage

Among the main types of archival structures are: stationary and mobile systems of archives. Some manufacturers distinguish the angular type of models, however, in our opinion, this is a type of stationary storage systems for small documents and small items, which are often used in offices and premises without a clearly defined storage area.

Stationary archival storage systems are represented by universal shelf metal structures, which are easy to install, adaptable and low cost.

Mobile archival models are a more complex design that moves on tracks with mechanical or electric drives. At a higher cost compared to stationary systems, this type of archival storage system is no less popular because it provides higher security of documents or cargo and allows the most efficient use of storage space.

How are archive racks used?

Stationary models are the most common type of equipment for storing documents and artificial goods. On such archival racks it is possible to place segregators, boxes, boxes, trays, books, artificial goods. The main requirement for the use of such models is the presence of a significant storage area. Therefore, it is often used in:

  • pharmaceuticals;
  • polyclinics;
  • libraries;
  • archives;
  • banks;
  • post offices.

Corner models, on the other hand, can be used in areas where storage space is absent or minimized. This type of shelving is ideal for storage in the office, home, workshop, garage or other outbuildings.

Mobile systems or rolling models can increase the efficiency of storage space up to 90%. At the same time it is possible to use such racks only at low intensity of works as access to one corridor is provided for one approach. However, automated systems allow you to prepare the archive for the next task, while the employee is busy with other functions. This type of storage can also be used in any field of activity where it is necessary to work with large volumes of documents or artificial goods.
