Purpose
They are selective racks for pallets installed in two rows. In other words, a single row becomes a double row, and a double row, which is normally processed on both sides, in the case of Double Deep pallet racking, has four rows.
This storage system is not suitable for everyone. It makes sense if both the first and second deepest pallets are removed from the rack when shipping goods. Besides, the second row of rack requires specialised warehouse equipment, where the forks are extended with a telescopic mechanism or a so-called pantograph.

Description
Double Deep pallet racking is a highly specialized version of the use of selective racks. Telescopic forks of reach trucks or a pantograph system allow you to install pallets to the depth of the second row. With the appropriate equipment, conventional pallet racking can therefore increase storage capacity by 25-30%.
Even though this system is not suitable for every business, because it imposes some restrictions related to the availability of the far pallet, it has an undeniable advantage. Since such racks consist entirely of classic selective racks, you can simply complete them with additional rows.
Even a need to dismantle and relocate existing racks would not be too expensive compared to replacement of the entire racking system with alternative solutions, which are much more expensive.
Double Deep pallet racking is highly underestimated in the Ukrainian market. The inconvenience of maintaining the second row of storage has been decreased in recent years by the increasing spread of WMS systems. After all, the software can optimally manage the actions of operators, preventing distant pallets to be unsold.
